got a 2005 nissan altima 3.5 getting a ticking at start up sounds like lifters, it goes away after about 5 min. its on the passenger side of the motor does anyone know what it can be and a fix for it??
Ticking may be from engine component or an exhaust leak. It may be going away due to either oil pressure is building up or because manifold is heating up sealing leak. Try running Sea Foam or other engine degreasers through the oil, then change the oil. If it persists you'll have to diagnose just what is ticking (valvetrain related or crank/piston/rod related) Lifters are easy enough to replace but you may want to check valve lash as well. As to an exhaust leak, google several methods for finding those.
