Maxima lost power, now won't start

Asked by Kyrell Sep 17, 2016 at 10:56 AM about the 2006 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello,

So recently, about a month or 2 ago, I was driving
and suddenly my dash light dimmed and all the
service lights came on (ABS, BREAK, BATTERY,
SLIP) and AC shut off then I lost acceleration power.
I had everything tested and all fingers pointed to the
Alternator so I had that replaced.

Car drove great until last night when it did the same
exact thing on the freeway. I pulled off the closest
off ramp and turned the car off to check everything.
I went to start it back up and it would not start. I
checked all fuses, jumped it and checked terminals
but still would not start. Funny thing is, last time this
happened, all I had to do was jump it after 30
minutes and it would start before the Alternator was
replaced. Now it's no luck at all so I can't even take
the car to get the Alternator retested. All the car
does is die now after trying to crank it so many
times. Now, my positive terminal is a (little) corroded
but it's not that bad to where it shouldn't at least
start, especially with a jump from direct power.

I NEED HELP ANY SUGGESTIONS?

The shop that replaced it last time will not be able
to look at it until Monday and today is Saturday.  I
still have to work.

A defected alternator could be the problem, however, I would start with the battery, ground, and battery post connection. Please click on "Mark helpful" if your happy with the respond Good luck :-)
