vr4 sitting for long time
I'm looking to buy a 91 3000gt vr4 twin turbo .....
supposably transmission, engine, and turbos were
rebuilt about 200 miles ago but has been sitting for
about 6 years since said rebuild. .. and needs the
CAS replaced....what do I need to check for when
buying this car and what would I need to do before
trying to start this thing?
Receipts - otherwise talk is cheap .... Have the seller get it started 1st or only give him what you think you could get for it after owning it for 6 months or 6 years of not getting it anywhere or ... Find another one ... Best Advise
Look at receipts and plan on doing a full fuel system cleaning including the fuel tank. Full rebuild and only 200 miles on it? Something is fishy here. I wouldn't touch it with a 20 foot pole.
I agree. Sounds suspicious! After seeing the receipts I'd be wondering why it was parked? If you're really interested in it, run a Carfax or other vehicle history report to see when it was last registered to drive on the road. Seems funny to me that someone would spend the money to have all that work done then just park it. Especially after driving it only 200 miles. Sounds to me like another problem developed in that 200 miles and the seller gave up on the car. Personally I'd keep shopping. HTH. - Jim
