1997 Ford Explorer makes a noise that almost sounds like an electric leaf blower, after it goes past 40 mph, if i slow down the noise stops. Any ideas as to what might the problem be?

Have you checked the cooling fan clutch? It could be locked up.

There's a black valve connected to your intake manifold on the right side looking from the top of the motor that is connected by two bolts. Take that off & use a brake cleaner to clean out & let it sit until it dries. Make sure you get all the gunk out though. Worked for me.
