My 97 Ford Explorer Engine Hesitates When Starts.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I try to start a 1997 Ford Explorer, it sometimes hesitates, nothing happens a second or two, then an engine starts.  But whenever this happens, the clock and preset radio stations reset.  Could anyone tell me what is wrong?  My battery is fairly new.

remove ALL corrosion...sounds like it's getting bad ground to the chassis, and more importantly ground to the engine!~

It's the other end~~~not the battery end of the terminal 1/0 cable (tho the clamping end should be wispy-clean too). The connector from this place to the engine (alternator bracket, perhaps it's own threaded boss on the block) ---boss on the block! sounds like a rock band.

pulling so hard for amps, sucking the lines to zero ,maintain your truck or youll get in a jackpot ,what if this happened on a toll road where you cant do nothing but by the authority of the owner ,and they do love money

Thank you all! I just cannot picture the other end of the terminal cable, but I will take a look. An illustrated version could help...
