Yes the 2.4 and 3.0 both are interference engines. Sorry to say but you most likely have bent valves.
That being said have heard of them breaking and not bending any valves but that is very unlikely. Most times it bends a few of them.
Now you can take the valve covers off and rotate the overhead cams to there neutral position( both intake and exhaust valves closed at same time) remove all the spark plugs and do a compression check on each cylinder. If your psi is 142.5 psi to 190 psi (9.5:1 compression ratio engine). 150 psi to 200 psi (10:1 compression ratio engine). Your valves are good. Any cylinders showing 0 psi have bent valves.
