can I boost a 2000 eclipse gt stock motor

Asked by Feb 08, 2016 at 10:21 PM about the 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT

Question type: Car Customization

I was recently told I could not or there was
not a point in boosting my stock 2000
mitsubishi eclipse gt because it's a v6 and is
already a high compression motor and that
if I did boost it I would blow the head gasket
or I could buy low compression pistons and
boost it but wouldn't feel that much in
power...any advice on wether that's true or
not and how I could go about doing it and
the best possible way?

Basically true, low compression engines can handle more boost pressure than a high compression engine. Engine modifications to handle boosting can get very expensive very fast, special Pistons, rods, crankshaft and bearings not mention the cylinderhead work that must be done to handle high boost pressures, then there is the turbos or super chargers depending on how you want to boost. So think long and hard about boosting, you might try running a reprogrammer like Superchips or bully dog, something like that.

Thanks so my next question is what can i put on my 2000 mitsubishi eclipse for power as far as headers exhaust and a chip or ecu flash goes? Other than those parts are there any other parts i can put on it to add more power? And if i were to buy a chip for my car what would be the best brand for the eclipse?
