steering wheel and front dashboard vibration when starting car and in drive!
I recently bought a used car, 2002 Mitsubishi lancer automatic. When I start the car and in parking gear everything seems ok, but when I shift to drive, then I feel vibration in the steering wheel and also dashboard vibration. After I release brake and start driving the vibration subsides, but as soon as I apply brake like at the traffic light, then I experience the front of the car vibrating.
When I took the car for oil change, the mechanic didn't tell me that there was anything wrong with the car. The car drives just fine. I was wondering if it's just the engine that's unevenly mounted! what could cause the excess vibration of the steering and dashboard section? The vibration is not that big though, but still it's a discomfort.
Hello, Have your motor/tranny mounts checked out... You will need an experienced guy that knows these things can/will be bad but still look good... Don't go overboard, replacing all, but a good mechanic will know how to isolate the tranny/engine with a hoist or jack, and find the culprit. Hope this Helps, AskTrannyMan
