Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i drive for 10-15 min and come to a light i press the break and the car dies
off. the car turns on right a way but i have to keep my foot slightly on the
gas to keep it from dying out when i come to a light or a stop sing. i did
check my battery and it was at 15 vlt with car on and with a\c radio full blast
light and highs, fog lights, wipers, ect, i also checked the alternator and it
was putting out 15.1 vlt. is it possible that it could be the alternator or the
fuel pump??

Possibly the brake booster check valve has went bad or there is a large leak in the booster itself. Doesn't sound electrical.

no luck i checked the booster with three different ways and they all pass

pump three time turn on the car, pedal should droop to the floor. second run in idle for 2 min apply the pedal turn off the car, pedal did not rise. third run in idle 2 min turn of car pump three times and the pedal came up all three time. booster and check valve are good....

Pinch off the vacuum line to the booster, then drive to duplicate the problem, if it doesn't die then it is the booster, if it does then it could be a computer problem, something with the idle up circuit. Remember the brakes will be hard due to no assist so be aware that it will take more pressure than your use too to make a stop.
