Where is the fuse panel located on 1997 Ford Contour GL Sport?

The owner's manual states that the instrument fuse panel is located to the left of the steering colunm, but I do not see it there on my vehicle.

It should be where the manual says it is. On the left side of the dash, to the left of the steering column, kind of where your left knee would be while driving. It will be covered by a small plastic cover that can be easily removed. Sometimes has a small knob to pull that removes the cover.
