My lancer wont start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My lancer wont start I ran out of gas and I put
gas in it and jumped the car when I take the
cables off the car cuts off. I just had an
alternator put on my car maybe 2 months ago   
but someone was telling me that it's because
my alternator belt is gone I'm not sure why it
wont start.
