Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2019 Highlander Hybrid will not hold a charge more than 4 days if it is not started and run before this time period. The Toyota dealer says there is nothing wrong with the car. I have never had a new automobile that could not sit idle for several weeks and not start. If I go on vacation, it will not start when I get back. Is this a known problem with the HH or is it just my car?

You should be able to let it sit for three month before having an issue. Contact Toyota corporate or another Toyota dealer.

I agree, something's not right! Because of the stay at home orders I haven't been driving much. I took my 2008 Grand Marquis out the other day to the grocery store after sitting for 2 weeks. It started right up! The battery is 3 years old too! So your brand new vehicle should do the same or better!! Hope that helps! Jim

Toyota is blaming the battery drain on the remote starter They had it installed by a business the dealer used. I have yet to hear more from Toyota. Apparently, once a non-Toyota accessory is installed, Toyota blames everything on the outside vendor. I have had remote starters on my cars for 20 years and never had this issue of the battery dying so quickly.

I'm assuming you took the vehecle to the Toyota Dealer to install the remote starter? The fact that they chose to sub contracted the job out to someone else, for whatever reason, is not your problem. The Dealer needs to send your vehicle to whomever installed the remote starter, if that really is the problem, so they can make it right. Push for a free loaner car while yours is in the shop! You deserve that too! Hope that helps! Jim
