Mini Cooper lights flashing while the car is off

Asked by Nov 10, 2015 at 07:52 AM about the 2002 MINI Cooper Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A few months back I pulled the key out of my car but the dinging was telling
me the lights were still on.  I didn't think much about it but a little while later, I
washed my car and water had gotten in through the hatch back and my lights
are flashing like crazy.  A couple weeks later My altinator burnt up and I
replaced it, the second altinator burnt up.  Please if anyone could give me
some insight on what to do.  Thank you

did you resolve the issue? Mine is doing the same thing but replaced the battery initially as it went flat but now doing the light thing again.

I replaced the battery and another (3rd) altinator. I took the battery out of the key fob and it hasn't happened since. So I'm hoping it was the keys. But I highly doubt it. I have heard if you battery or altinator are getting ready to go out, the car will start acting funny. So I've been lucky for a few months. Just out of curiosity, could you reply back if you find anything out? Thanks!

Another thing, the power steering pump is being recalled because it is constantly running. Which would make your battery go dead! Therefore when your battery starts to go dead your car will flash lights and make windows go down. So I've heard
