every once in a while, my 2003 mini S automatically lowers the windows about an inch and partially opens the sunroof. This happens when the car is locked. Do you have any idea why this happens.

You must be hitting the key fob while it is in your pocket. There is a function on most fobs that if you hold in a certain button for a period of time that it opens the windows and sunroof as you approach the car when it is hot and you want to air it out.
