heater core in 91 merc cougar

how do i replace the heater core in my cougar the manual says i have to completely remove the dash and steering column in order to do this is this correct please help winter is coming

Its a pain but you do have to pull console be patient and just get it done and overwith be sure not to over force any of lt and youll be able to do it rite.
