98 Ford Taurus Transmission fluid line leak

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

98 Ford Taurus..upper transmission fluid line (directly under car battery)
leaking at the connection. Bolts are tight and it only leaks when car is
running. Is there a pressure sensor there in that connector that I will have to
replace or is it as simple as just getting a new line and reconnecting it? If it is
a pressure sensor, is that easy to do? I took a low quality picture of me
pointing at where it is leaking. Thank you for any and all help!

Sometimes they just loosen up. You can try retightening it to see if the leak stops. Don't crank on it much you might break it. Just a quarter turn at a time. If it still leaks, you can remove the line, put some plumber teflon tape on the threads and reattach. The actual bung on the radiator might be cracked as well, that would mean you would be replacing the radiator. After you are done, recheck the transmission fluid level again, once the car is warmed up, parked, engine on, level surface.

Thank you for answering. I will recheck the tightness and do so gently..I am prepared to replace the connector, just didn't want to take everything off and discover there was a complicated pressure switch attached. Good idea on the plumber tape, I will most likely try that first.
