how do interior lights work on 93 mercury capri

if the door is not fully closed the lights stay on and you will have a dead battery in the morning . on the left side door body panel you have a switch. Removed switch and add one or two washers to bring out the switch and re install switch . Do the same thing to the other door .I had to do this to all the 3 Capris i owned . { I assumed that the switch is not broken }

if switch is broken ,remove and tape wires . you just don't have interior lights which are not that good anyway .
