Car is smoking and has a high pitch screaming after i replaced the belt. What can be purposely with it??

Its an 1995 ford mercery sable not a
wagon.  V6 3.0. Replaced belt.

Could be a slipping/smoking belt, make sure you have the routing correct and the tensioner is good, also make sure the belt is the correct length.

Right or one of your pulleys is frozen due to failed pulley bearings. Remove the belt again and spin all the pulleys to determine which one it is.
