i have a 1999 mercury villager and i cleaned the terminals the battery charge is normal between 12.7 and 12.9 at a standstill and drops to 7.8 ish while attempting to start and make a clicking noise and doesnt turn over also checked all fuses and relays everything is in order any suggestions

Batteries are usually 12.2-12.6 at a standstill and not go down under 12V starting. I'd say it's time for a new battery.
