P0455 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (gross or large leak) Can this cause my car to not start.

Asked by Rodney Jul 17, 2017 at 06:08 PM about the 1999 Mercury Sable LS Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Battery and Alternator are good. Any suggestions before purchasing a starter.
My gas cap was off while I was driving. I do not know how long.

EVAP problems would not be related to your battery and alternator. Does the car start if you put a gas cap on it?

If the positive battery wire is a problem then you need to take care of it.
