A/C Compressor seized up

Compressor made grinding noise for a few days
before i could get it fixed. Belt snapped when tried
to crank one day, put new belt on and cranked only
to realize that a/c pulley was seized. My question is
can i bypass the pulley for now till i have time to do
a proper replacement?
