Our 2000 Mercury Mountaineer isn't starting this freezing morning

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Our 2000 Mercury Mountaineer Explorer isn't starting this morning!  We've
been having freezing temperatures for about 5 days now and it's been
starting and running fine with ne'er a problem.  We faithfully and regularly
take it in for maintenance.  My husband put a heater close by truck to see if
would help but still not doing anything.  Engine does turn over but doesn't
start.

If the engine turns over but very slowly then you probably need a new battery. Try jump starting it. If it starts right up then it is a weak battery. Cold reduces the power of batteries.

Thank you for this! Sooo... we kept the heater on, my husband went and turned the ignition and it started! Don't know if the heater was what was needed, just glad we had the truck running!
