Where is the transmission pan and how can I identify it

You should be able to identify the pan that's under the engine. Look for the exhaust pipes. There should be a drain plug on the side or bottom near the rear. There's another flat pan like the one on the engine off to the side if it's front wheel drive and to the rear if it's rear wheel drive. It might not have a drain plug. If you have to ask where it is, maybe you should have someone with automotive knowledge help you out with whatever you intend to do. There's lots of ways to do things wrong underneath a car.
