Will a 1999 Mercury Cougar engine fit a 2001?

Yep. Will fit. Both '99 and '01 came with either 2.0L I4 or a 2.5L V6. Same generation. Now you can swap the 2.0 for 2.0 or 2.5 V6 for another 2.5 but not one for the other. Not easily anyway

I noticed the tensioners was on opposite sides, and I'm making sure that my 2.5will swap the other 2. 5
