2011 MKZ HYBRID: HYBRID DRIVETRAIN NO LONGER ENGAGES.

Asked by William Jan 11, 2021 at 02:53 PM about the 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Today I noticed I am only running on gas. At a stop light when fully stopped the
EV light goes on and gas engine disengages. As soon as i take my foot off the
brake and without pressing the gas pedal, the gas reengages and EV goes out.
Just started happening this week. What could cause this?

Your 2011 MKZ Hybrid probably has a high voltage battery life counter (like the 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid) and that counter shuts down the HVB at 10 yrs old. A dealer can reset the age to zero or 1 yr old and the HVB will come back online. You can reset yourself with some software and OBD2 connector. Look in Ford Fusion hybrid site "my instructions on restoring the hybrid EV function" by Allen84. Regards, Matt Zach
