2004 Mercury Mountainer STD AWD V8
I have a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer AWD V8. When
idling, the car sounds like it has a knot in the
motor. I took it to AutuZone and they said there's a
cylinder 6 misfire. When driving on the highway, I
noticed at 50-60 mph, that the AC would shut itself
off until I reached 65-70 mph, as well as wanting to
hesitate before climbing to the speed I needed to
reach. I had an oil change and the service engine
soon light is still on, as well as reading low oil
pressure. I need help ASAP as I am going out if
town and really need the vehicle to last. Any
suggestions on what's wrong??
You just answered your own question. Misfire on Cylinder #6. I would change the spark plugs, probably never changed, and see if the engine light goes out. If not, scan for the codes again, it might be the coil on #6 that is the problem. Replace that. But don't drive long distances till you get the parts swapped. a misfire puts unburnt fuel in the exhaust clogging the catalytic convertors. then requiring that to be swapped out as well, big $$$. Good luck.
