the service "servie engine soon" warning light has come on in my 2004 mercury mountaineer. it is a V8 and has about 11700 miles on it. it is in good shape and I keep up on the maintenance. My local dealer has told me the "PCM" needs to be replaced and wants to charge me over $2100 to replace it. Is this reasonable?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 V8 Mercury mountaineer with about 11700 miles on it. My "service engine
soon" light came on and my local dealer told me that my "PCM" needs to be replaced and

What trouble code(s) did they get to determine the PCM needs replacing? Sounds kinda steep to me! HTH -Jim

Thanks for answering Mark. it sounds kinda steep to me to and I don't have a lot of knowledge. Not sure what code (s) they got, but I could probably find out. Even though this is a reputable dealer and I have been using them since I bought my vehicle in 06, I think lately their prices for repairs have been suspiciously high. If I an get the info, I will let you know.
