2012 Chevy Cruze LT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my wife's car gave her an "ac off due to high
engine temp" message. So I looked a few things up
and the coolant temp sensors were the problem I
had to fix. So I installed both sensor on engine and
the sensor on the passenger side bottom of the
radiator... The message went away and the gauge
started to read again but I have a leak on the
sensor due to sensor not being tightly inserted.. I
tried pulling out the sensor in order to clean the
area and reinstall but my sensor broke and a piece
of the sensor is stuck inside, does anyone have a
my tips on maybe a time they had the same
problem and we're able to fix it?

Hi, very sorry to hear that you had that problem. I recently bought a Chevy cruze 2012, with a warranty from the dealer. Basically I had the same problem as you, and he kept on switching different things. In the end he switched the radiator, and that fixed the problem. That might be the case by you too, but it seems like if I wouldn't have the warranty, it would have cost about $500 - $800 to fix that. You can try that, but you'll also have to remove the broken sensor. BTW, there are 2 sensors on my 2012 Cruze, you might also have 2, and I would suggest changing both, because if the car overheats you want to know.

I had the same problem, I ended up changing many things, including the cars 2 sensors (there are 2 not 1), and the problem was fixed when (the mechanic) changed the radiator. Hope it helps.
