lock for 1992 navajo

Asked by Mar 04, 2014 at 12:42 PM about the 1992 Mazda Navajo 2 Dr LX 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i just bought a used 1992 navajo.  I found out that the ignition key does not open the
doors.   I am wondering if there was a separate door lock key that came with or possibly
the locks are just seized up.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Navajo is just a rebadged Ford Explorer, if the pervious owners left the owners manual in it sometimes there will be a sticker on the front or back covers that will have the key codes written there, they start with FA and FB, FB will be for the doors, then a locksmith can cut you a key. If no codes then you will have to either take it to a locksmith and he can "pick out" the code and cut you a key, or disassemble one of he doors and remove the tumbler assembly and take that to a locksmith to do the same thing.
