1994 mazda protege

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Fuel pump went out so it was replaced mechanic test drove it was running great then
engine light came on said MAF was bad so he replaced it. It will start when you put it in gear it will cut off. If you start it in Neutral then drop in gear it will go but still trys to cut off.
mechanic has tried several things still not right HELP PLEASE don't want to junk it.

Have seen this on a 1993 mazda mx3,had to blow and clean the fuel line,s out,to get it to run right,this year model has had a lot of raw fuel ran through it over the year,s,,if mechanic did not clean the tank when he replaced the pump,you may have trash all ready stopping the fuel sock up at the pump.

One more thing to add,did he change the inline fuel filter all so?
