where do i find air intake hose for 1997 mazda protege?

Are you asking where in the engine compartment it is, or where to find a replacement hose? Your local auto parts store should be able to order a replacement for you if they don't have one in stock, or else the Mazda dealership should be able to as well. As far as where in the engine compartment it is, the air intake hose attaches the air filter to the intake of the head, so the hose should be right on top of the engine and running to one of the corners of the engine compartment. The 1997 is a different body style and engine than my 1992, but on my 92 the air filter is in the right front corner of the engine compartment, right behind the headlight.
