2001 Mazda wont start after sitting 6 months.
I had the battery unplugged for 6 months on my 2001 Mazda Tribute ES. It will crank but wont start. Could it be the security system? Or should I try a new battery? Also, CD player no longer works after having battery unplugged?
If it cranks good then it's not the battery. It sounds like the security system has been activated and the radio has went into anti-thieft mode due to loss of power, check your owners manual on deactivating the security system, but the radio will most likely have to be reset by the dealer, you can try some of the codes on the Internet, but you usually wind up at the dealer. Next time you are going to leave it sitting like that I would recommend putting it on a battery tender system, that way the battery remains charged and your presets stay active.
Thanks so much for your time and sharing your knowledge. I appreciate it a lot.
