I have 2001 Mazda Tribute. A few months ago it started juddering occasionally at a speed range of 40-60. I noticed it will do that if I'm not actively accelerating, kinda cruising at that speed, and if I let my foot off the gas and then step on it again accelerating, it won't do that. If I ignore it and let it judder, it will kick out of overdrive (the light will come on). Could it be a speed sensor (or another sensor) or is it a transmission problem?
If it only doe,s it at certain time,s i would lean toward bad over drive sensor,it can, make it.s mind up to stay in 3rd, or go to over drive.
Yes, it's intermitent, that's what made me think about a sensor. Thank you!
I've also seen where a worn lockup converter clutch can cause this.
