Asked by Jun 01, 2013 at 08:07 AM about the 2001 Mazda Tribute DX 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When in drive and the the engine revs above 2000rpm, it goes out of control and takes about 1min to return to 900rpm. Any idea about how to solve this problem?

What do you mean by "out of control". You might be looking at replacing a throttle position sensor , maybe you have a vacuum leak, or a transmission issue or some other issue. Before you start replacing parts, lets pinpoint the issue to narrow down a solution. Do you have a CEL light on?
