Intermittent, rapid whubba-whubba, after car is warmed up- no consistency to it.  Oil light
occasionally flickers, but oil is fine.

it could be a bad oil pump,it also has a screen filter on it.eather way the motor will have to come out.the noise you hearing sounds like the main rod bearings is worn out letting the crank move, superised it hasent blown up.trade it befor it does.

Thanks, Papa - car has 97,000 miles on it. We were hoping for a little more time, but I've got to admit to a bad feeling about this.

ahh ya probably got rid of it by now, the wubba wubba is a missfire and at idle a missfire will lower the r. p .m enough to bring on a light as the pressure drops below the oil senders min . standard pressure ,use straight wt. oil 20 or 30 for body, increase pressure fix the spark loss from coil or wires or plugs or whatever and drive it another 10 yrs
