My 1998 Ford Explorer Sport wont start. I initially thought i had run out of gas, we put gas and it still wouldnt start.
Long story short, we replaced the fuel pump, car turns over but wont stay on. Any Help is
Check the inertia switch. Supposed to trip during collision but might trip when you run out of gas. http://www.fixya.com/cars/t5272327-resetting_fuel_inertia_switch_ford
This probably is not the cause, but spend the twelve bucks and change the fuel filter it may never have been. Stop throwing money at the problem via hit and miss. Get a free loaner tool and check the fuel pressure with ignition on, engine off. Once fuel delivery has been eliminated, move on to electronic after checking the air filter and making sure it is not clogged.
