2002 Mazda Tribute LX Code 47 Pretensioner Plug
For over two years now, when I start the car I get the airbag light flashing 4 times,
break, then 7 tiems. I tried the turn key on to accessory 8-9 time on and then off and
no reset. So, I found that the only temporary fix until it returns is to go under the
passenger seat and unplug the yellow clip, use a circular file and clean the female
receptacle and the two male spades. After this I turn the key from off to accessory 8
times and one extra and the code 47 seems to go away. it can be between a day and
2 months before I get code 47 again. Both pretensioners are only about 2 years old. I
was thinking about cutting out the plug receptacle and splice the colored wires
together; yellow-yellow and black black.
Code 47 means the connector for the air bag under the passenger seat is broken. Check the wiring as well. I think there might be a TSB associated with this issue as well.
