I have a 2002 mazda tribute.the sensor on the rear exhaust manifold melted twice and we removed the gits of the catalytic converter

Asked by Apr 22, 2016 at 01:04 AM about the 2002 Mazda Tribute ES V6

Question type: General

The tribute now acts as if it has no power
and keeps winding between gears. I am told
that there is a third catalytic converter and
now the exhaust sensor is no longer melting
but the car has no power. My question is
can the tribute run fine without the two
catalytic converters on the exhaust

Is the CEL on? Melting cats usually are cause by unburt fuel getting into the exhaust. Do you have a misfire? The car will run without cats, but can you pass state inspection without them?
