My 1998 eddie bauer ford explorers will stall, especially when slowing down. Then starts right back up. Just had battery replaced.
Does it do it mainly when a/c is on? If so I would check the idle air control valve.
Yup, sounds like a dirty or faulty IAC (idle air control) valve. Try cleaning it with some carburetor cleaner in a spray can. If that doesn't work replace it. HTH. -Jim
How's the vehicle in the area of tune-ups. Are the spark plug wires the one's that came with the car? How about the plugs? Plugs last a long time when un-leaded fuel is used. Some rural areas still have access to leaded fuel for farm purposes. The vehicle will run on leaded fuel, but plugs get fouled.
Lead fouling will be seen on the spark plug electrode as red deposits. HTH. -Jim
