I just bought a used 1999 Ford expedition v8 and the problem is to start the truck i have to have it in drive and it does not shift into park. when i do shift it in park its actually in reverse.

Get the codes pulled first, that will give you someplace to go with diagnosis. As far as finding your trim, find a Ford VIN decode web site, enter the number and it will break it down.
