Four wheel high is what you use traveling threw snow and light mud. You need the four wheel low when you are really stuck in like sand or mud.

If your traveling on packed snow use 4HI and keep the speed down, to be safe no faster than 45 MPH if you are running on unpacked snow or there are drifts in the road use 4LO and don't exceed 25 MPH. on wet roads ways use AWD, this is of course if you have good snow tires. As always speed is the killer on any road but more so when it is complicated by weather, so keep the speeds down.

Four high for snow on the road. I would only use four low in deep snow or off road.
