I have a 1998 Ford Expedition. Recently the battery light has been coming on, bit when I accelerate it goes out. What dis?
I'm not an electrical expert but will throw you a thought and what I would look into first, based upon your description, it appears that the alternator may be weakening and is losing charging power at idle - might be the reason for the battery light on then. Guess I would look at the alternator performance first, then the battery itself.. Good luck!
Check for a loose alternator belt and if it is tightened properly, you might have a bad diode in the alternator. Cheaper to buy a rebuilt than to actually rebuild yours.
