do we have to remove fuel line....does it take a special tool

Yes, you will need to remove the fuel line. I believe it uses one of the plastic disconnects, which require a special tool. You can find this at most auto parts stores. It only costs around $10 for the tool, and using it is fairly self-explanatory once you see it. It clamps around the line and pushes into the disconnect which lowers the "teeth" of the disconnect and allows the female fitting to slip out over the male part of the disconnect.

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank, yes you will need to remove the lines, and yes there ie a tool for this. If you pick up a Haynes manual it has detailed instructions in it. When you are at the auto parts store tell them what you are doing and they will be able to get you the fuel line tools as well as the new gasket for the new pump, The job itself is a pain in the butt. If the tank has gas in it, It makes that much harder. You might want to take it in.
