Curiosity: why does rear windshield leave infinite wiper line?

Asked by Antipode92 Apr 10, 2019 at 02:04 PM about the 2018 Kia Sportage LX

Question type: General

Random question.

When it rains, there's always a half circle line denoting
where the wiper moves. Why is that always there?

And before you laugh! I even mean after it's been washed.
For instance, after a car wash of cleaning the back window,
as the cleaning water settles, it still wraps around that line.
It's kind of funny because since the water is coming from
above, it will go around the half circle never breaking it, so
it'll be clean under it.

Is the windshield slightly grooved there or something?

Its from the wiper blade, almost like its being waxed. The front does the same thing you just don't notice it because the wiper blades are bigger and cover more of the window.
