Lincoln Continental seat memory controls

Asked by GuruL64BW Feb 16, 2020 at 05:19 PM about the 2001 Lincoln Continental FWD

Question type: General

Something's driving me nuts.  About a month ago, I test drove a 2001
Lincoln Continental I was interested in.  When I asked the seller about
controlling the seat and mirror position memory, he said he uses the remote
for that.  Looking at the online PDF of the owners manual, it does mention
using the unlock button on the remote to recall the memory settings, but it
also says "just as if you had pressed the memory control in the vehicle," and
there's nothing in the manual about such a control.  I've also searched online
for more information on that control, and what I've found is that the master
control panel on the driver's door has one of those controls, but only on '99
and earlier models.  All the pictures I've found of that panel for the 2001
model show it has no such controls.  What's the story?
