Fuse box under the dash

I have a ford escort zx2 Doha it's a 1998.
Someone tried to replace the radio and
now it won't run.. it'll start with a jump, but
won't continue to run.. I replaced the
alternator, but changed nothing. The fuse
box by my feet if I hold up on it the car will
run, if I drop it it shuts off.. what can I do?
