Hesitation to drive on 2004 licoln ls

Yeterday while stopped at a red light,  i step
on the gas to drive and the rpm goes up but
the car does not drive and then it goes.  
What could be the problem,?

Transmission related. The symptom you described can be caused by a low transmission fluid level. Have a shop/garage get the car on a lift to check the fluid level and inspect for leaks, as your car does not have a dipstick.
