What could be causing the rumble in the rear end of a 1999?

Asked by Jun 24, 2015 at 02:37 PM about the 1999 Ford Taurus SE Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just bought, when I test drove has rumble in the rear with intensity of sound in direct
relationship to rpm.  So, I thought rumble was due to wrong size tires.   Tires are right size
and look new with all weather tread.  Rumble sounds like coming from both tires.  Could
the rearend gears need replacing or could both wheel bearing be going bad or ???

1 Answer

That car is front wheel drive. No rear end gears
