Lost all power from battery

I went to start my 2018 f150 power stroke and when I hit
the starter button it killed all power to truck, all interior
lights head lights everything

I check the battery it was dead bought a new one and when I went to hook it up , as soon as I made contact with negative post it about burnt half of it off , obviously a short right but where should I start
