Is the choke sticking open? Secondaries sticking open? High idle screw adjusted? Carb cleaner only gets you so far, may be time for a rebuild. But first I would try adjusting the choke and high idle screw, the choke has to be adjusted with a cold engine. The choke thermostat may also be mis-adjusted. Try looking up Youtube vids, plenty of them on adjusting old quadrajet carbs.
